Scribefire

So as part of my move over to Ubuntu, I've just taken a realy old slow laptop from the ice age and installed Ubuntu 9.04 on it.

I can tell you, it bloody works and its fast too. Charl has been hogging the netbook we didn't need and wouldn't use so now I can get on the net in the lounge whilst Charl updates her Facebook with gay abandon!

As always though, there's the blogging problem as I use Windows Live Writer. I just found a tool called Scribefire and is a plugin for Firefox so can be used on PC or Linux. Sweet.

Does it work? Can I format a picture?

I don't know what you can do with it. But you can take a fantastic photo. You have a real talent for it and that photo shows it.

Cheers Martin! You're a dab hand yourself I might add.

yep, a cracking photo!! I recently dug out an ancient laptop, cleaned out everything and reinstalled windows xp and suddenly its the fastest booting pc I've known! Moved over to mac's but haven't dared venture as far as the underworld of linux yet!

Thanks Nigel. I know this is off topic but Linux is both amazing and frustrating in equal measures with a topping of addictive to boot!

We have a Gateway laptop that was made more or less unusable by Vista. As we bought an iMac last year, we were looking at MacBooks to replace it, but my boss is a dab hand at making Hackingtoshes, and he converted it for us. It's worked perfectly ever since running OSX 10.5!

Hi Shuttleworth, long time no see.

I'd be VERY interesting in exploring this hackingtosh business as I've never used one. Exactly how old is this Gateway laptop of yours and would my old Toshiba Satellite pro 6100 be a good candidate....

Motoroz, welcome to the blog and cheers. Sorry it took so long to reply, I keep forgetting that certain comments need moderating!
